10 Suit Rules You Must Follow When Wearing A Suit

10 Suit Rules You Must Follow When Wearing A Suit
In India, you are not required to wear a suit very often but there are some occasions where you have to, whether you like it or not. A suit is timeless and it can make you feel and look good instantly. If you are wearing a suit then there are certain rules that must be followed, just like any other style. Here are some fundamental rules every man should know about wearing a suit.

1. The fit

The fit

The fitting is crucial when it comes to suits. The shoulder of your blazer should be the same length as your shoulder and not bigger. Also, when you button your blazer, it should not be tight or loose. If your suit is loose, there will be excess cloth around your waist. Make sure the trouser also falls on top of your shoes without any excess cloth falling loose on your shoes.

2. Leave the bottom button unfastened

.
If your suit has two-button blazer, leave the last button at the bottom unfastened. If it is a three-button blazer, you can either fasten the first two or just the middle button. Do not button up all.

3. Cuffs of your blazer should show half an inch of your shirt cuffs

.
Cuffs

The blazer you wear should reveal around half an inch of your shirt cuffs. You can alter the blazer if you are buying a readymade one.

4. Select a color that suits you

.
You do not have to buy a black one. There are so many colors to select from, so choose a color that suits you. If you are confused, try navy blue or charcoal.

5. You need to unbutton your blazer when you sit down

.
Unbutton your blazer before you sit down

Unbuttoning your blazer will make it easier to sit down and avoid crease. You need to unbutton the blazer before you sit down and then fasten it again when you stand back up.

6. Shoes and belt

Try to match the color of the leather items you wear with your suit. If you are wearing a pair of brown shoe, make sure you are wearing a brown belt. If possible try to match the leather strap of your watch. Also, the belt should not be broad or have a flashy buckle.

7. Select a shirt that is suitable for the occasion

.
Appropriate shirt

You need to select an appropriate shirt for the occasion as it can break or make your look. If it is a formal occasion go for classy shirts and if you are going for a casual meeting, you can also opt for Mandarin collars.

8. Do not put bulky items in your trouser pockets

.
Do not stuff your trouser pockets with keys, wallet or hand kerchief. Putting bulky items in your trouser pockets can have a negative effect on your overall look. You should keep only the essential items in your blazer pockets.

9. Wear minimal accessories

Accessories

Make sure you are not over-accessorizing. Do not wear the lapel pin, pocket square, cuff links and tie bar, everything together. If you are wearing a tie, just add a pocket square or just a lapel pin, that is enough.

10. Keep three-piece suits for big formal events

.
You should only wear a three-piece suit if you are going for a big formal event. You need to coordinate everything you are wearing if you decide on a three-piece suit for an event. You cannot mismatch. Opt for a muted color like grey instead of bright or a flashy color.

You should invest in a good fabric as a suit will last you years. You can also go for bespoke suits. Yes, it will be expensive but will be worth it..
